Rain is not a common occurrence in Cape Verde. Although there is a rainy season, most years there is very little. When it does rain it is usually short-lived. Wet weather is often received with a celebration by Cape Verdeans as is demonstrated in this short video found on Facebook. It was recorded on the island of Maio. This is in contrast to the unusual, devastating storm that hit São Vicente and Santo Antão in August.
