During October and November Cape Verde celebrates the Sete Sóis Sete Luas Festival 2025. This will take place on the islands of Fogo, Brava, Maio, Santo Antão and Santiago. The festival celebrates art, music, and friendship between the peoples of the Lusophone (the Portuguese speaking countries of Africa) and Mediterranean regions. Artists from Portugal, Spain, Italy, and Cape Verde Islands will take part in the festival. This festival has grown to more than 30 cities in ten countries over a period of more than 30 years.
Fogo
The festival starts on Fogo on Friday 31 October 2025 with a clown show by Pau Palaus, a Spanish company. This will take place at the Centrum Sete Sóis Sete Luas in São Felipe. Other events will take place from the 5-7 November and then the final one will be held in the port of Fogo on Wednesday 19 November.
Brava
On the island of Brava the festival starts on 2 November at Praça Eugénio Tavares. There will be other events on the 8 and 9 November with the final one being an aerial acrobatic show at Furna port on 24 November.
Maio
There will be a full day of activities on 4 November, some at the Port and some in the Centrum Sete Sóis Sete Luas in Vila do Maio (Porto Inglês). On Maio the festival starts with an aerial acrobatic performance.
Santo Antão
On 8 November in the town of Ribeira Grande the clown show will be at the Centrum Sete Sóis Sete Luas.
Santiago
This festival will conclude on 12 November in Tarrafal on Santiago with ‘Dérives’, a poetical event. This will take place on a catamaran and emphasise the connection between the sea, art and culture.
