The weather in December is lovely. There is an average high temperature of about 28ºC and the average minimum is around 22ºC. there will normally be very little, if any rain and certainly no snow. Grogue is also the main ingredient of the Caipirinha cocktail, which is a popular refreshing drink.

Cape Verde is a predominantly Catholic country and so a Christmas Eve Mass is held. Christmas Day and New Year’s Day are public holidays, so the shops may be closed.
