CV Interlihas, the company operating the inter-island ferries, has cancelled the ferries linking Santiago, Fogo, Brava and Maio. This is following an accident with the Liberdadi ferry. The boat had problems yesterday and had to return the port in Praia. Then the generator broke down and the crew lost control of the boat. As a result it drifted on to rocks. There is no replacement boat currently available, but the company is looking at all possibilities for reinstalling the services as soon as they can. This will cause difficulties, especially for those islands that rely on the boat for the delivery of goods, including food.
